Beresti Multimodal Logistic Center

Seaport Group was selected by the USAID Moldova Institutional and Structural Reforms Activity (MISRA) to lead the feasibility study for a new multimodal logistics centre in Moldova — a project with the potential to transform the way the country moves goods and connects to international markets.

The vision is a state-of-the-art, integrated logistics hub capable of handling containerised cargo (including grain and liquid commodities in containers) as well as general cargo efficiently and at scale. Our role was to evaluate how such a facility could unlock new trade opportunities, improve supply chain reliability, and strengthen Moldova’s competitive position in the region.

Working fully within Moldova’s legal and regulatory framework for infrastructure development, we conducted a comprehensive assessment covering demand forecasts, operational concepts, infrastructure planning, equipment strategy, environmental considerations, investment phasing and financial viability.

The study examined the full 80-hectare development potential of the Beresti railway terminal — identifying how it can evolve into a modern, multimodal gateway linking rail, road and containerised logistics networks.

The result is a clear and actionable roadmap that enables informed decision-making and provides the foundation for future investment, permitting and implementation. This project positions Moldova to strengthen its role in regional trade corridors and support long-term economic growth.
